Psst...Be sure to keep reading 'til the end for a chance to win a $100 Visa gift card!I suppose weekends are supposed to be relaxing, but on Saturday morning, I'm on the run.
Literally on the run! On Saturday morning I do my longest run of the week, and I usually end the run at Starbucks. I hang out there for awhile by myself (bliss!) and wait for the family to drive and pick me up.
That means that feeding the kids breakfast on Saturday is usually up to The Engineer, my husband. Thankfully, since we already have such a simple breakfast routine, The Engineer can open the pantry and find convenient choices. He can give the kids cereal and milk or granola bars and know that they're getting a healthy breakfast.
Sundays are always busy as we try to get out the door for church. So we rarely have any special breakfasts on the weekend. We just choose from our easy options so that we've got the fuel we need to enjoy our time together as a family!
Now it's your chance to win a $100 Visa gift card! For all the fine print and official rules of the contest, visit this link. Here's how to enter:
You can enter up to 2 times. Choose up to 2 of these 3 entry methods:
- Leave a comment here sharing what you and/or your family usually have for breakfast on the weekend.
- Tweet about this contest, and leave a comment with a link to your Tweet. (Sorry, Tweets only, not Facebook posts.) To link, post your Tweet then look directly underneath it. It'll show when you Tweeted ("less than a minute ago" or "5 minutes ago"). Click that; it's a link to your Tweet!
- Post about this contest on your blog, and leave a link to the blog post.
Remember, you can only enter twice, and you need a separate comment for each entry. The contest will close next Monday. Good luck! (And to improve your chances, enter at the other blogs involved in this series--just click here!)
Last week's winner:
The winner of last week's gift card was determined by my trusty friend random.org....
Congratulations to commenter #47, Eva, who said her key to a good morning is, "Make sure to get enough sleep the night before!" Wise words, Eva! I may be a mom of two, but I agree--I value my sleep!

On the weekends we love pancakes or cinnamon buns.

We have a weekend tradition of going out to breakfast one day each weekend. There is a little place in town called Cracker's and the morning staff knows us well. It is fun going to a place that knows our orders by heart.
The other day of the weekend we make a big breakfast at home as a family.

My husband loves breakfast but we're too busy during the week for anything elaborate. Sunday mornings, he usually makes something super yummy and then we sit around drinking coffee and listening to some tunes. I love Sunday mornings.

My youngest son loves to "help" with weekend breakfast. (any breakfast for that matter) but on the weekends he and daddy get to make waffles!
We usually do pancakes or waffles on the weekends. My 10 yr old son has made pancakes himself a couple of times! And they were good!
On the weekends, me and my family like to eat anything really! Bread, cereal, or sometimes noodles if we all slept in until the afternoon, oops!

Our weekend breakfasts are usually at my parents' home. They live up the street and on the weekends my mom fixes a big breakfast for all of us. Some of our favorites are eggs, pancakes , or a family recipe of chocolate gravy over hot biscuits.
Our weekend favorite is waffles, eggs, and juice! During the weekdays it’s usually something quick!

Oh, we LOVE French Toast! Weekday mornings are usually busier. Weekend mornings start a bit later, and are usually more laid back. More time to cook...and enjoy :)
We really love to have cinnamon rolls with sausage and fruit.

Our kids are grown so breakfast isn't really the big event of the day, dinner is. My breakfast usually consists of coffee and a Stella Dora but sometimes on the weekends we have pancakes or waffles.

We usually cook a big breakfast on the weekends consisting of bacon, eggs, toast, and sometimes bologna, seeing that the weekdays its usually cereal or toast. karasceviour at hotmail dot com
We always sleep in to catch up on a few zzzzz. Then we'll get up and make pancakes. The kids love putting chocolate chips in and helping.

Husband goes to the fresh organic market on Sat. and uses the vegetables and eggs for an omelet .
Usually I try to make muffins... nothing fancy but something that does take a little more time than I have on weekdays.
We usually go out to eat on Sunday mornings--on the later side--Bob Evens has some stuffed pancakes that I love. On Saturday's everyone kind of does their own thing because we get up at different times. Sometimes do a later breakfast because we sleep late. My favorite is blueberry pancakes with lite sausage.

During the week it's pretty much the same, cereal or toast, muffin, something simple. On the weekend however we do like to make something bigger. Pancakes or homemade waffles are a favorite, so are what my kids like to call a farmhouse buffet. We make a big batch of scrambled eggs, fried potatoes, bacon and toast. Everything goes on the table at once and for some reason the kids really enjoy that! :) Thank you for hosting this giveaway, very nice of you :)
We do the whole pancake thing on weekends.

We usually have oatmeal during the week but on a weekend my 4 y.o. son and I make a simple breakfast bread with raisins, candied ginger, and pineapple. He measures the flour very carefully and reminds me to put in the baking powder and a pinch of salt. He always begs for a taste of sugar (which I always decline). He also gets to mix- his favorite part. He also loves to grease the bread pan and most of all he loves to lick the spoon afterwards. The only thing is he can never wait for it to bake or cool down- he is ready to eat as soon as it gets in the oven.

On the weekends I have more time to make a better breakfast for the family so I usually will make a big brunch. Eggs, bacon, hashbrowns, and fresh fruit.

We usually sleep a little later on the weekends. I like to make something for breakfast and then eat it in bed - even if it is a bowl or cereal or peanut butter toast. I also love pancakes! If we leave early to run errands, we might stop at Einsten Bros. for a bagel or Chick-Fil-A for a chicken biscuit. Yum!
Weekends were made for waffles in our household.
We usually have bacon, eggs, hash browns, oj, etc. as opposed to cereal or pop tarts on weekdays!

Weekends my daughter and I like to experiment with different breakfast dishes. While I sometimes make the traditional pancakes or eggs and bacon, we sometimes find a recipe online and give it a whirl together. We've made some yummy breakfast casseroles and omelets with recipes we've found online. It also gives us a chance to talk and is teaching my 14 year old some great kitchen techniques too!

It wouldn't be exactly honest of me to say we have a weekend breakfast ritual. We do have a few go-to weekend breakfasts. It's fairly simple, really. Eggs, pancakes, sausage links. Or any combination of the above.

We usually make things on weekends that we don’t have time to make during the week like steel cut oatmeal, pancakes, waffles, french toast, poached eggs, etc.
Weekends aren't any different than weekdays where breakfast is concerned. All of the children are grown and out of the house and we now have conflicting schedules so we are rarely up at the same time. We will occasionally hit a local coffee shop for a breakfast at lunchtime meal.
