Psst...Be sure to keep reading 'til the end for a chance to win a $100 Visa gift card! The breakfast choices in our pantry change pretty often--different selections of cereal or granola bars mostly. Sometimes we even get into a pancake phase.
But there's one thing that our whole family will nearly always eat. And I'm kind of embarrassed to admit it.
Donuts.

I'm not even talking about some donut-mimicking healthy option; I'm talking about the real thing. Yep, those calorie-dense, fried, frosted circles of delight. Chickie likes the pink frosted variety with sprinkles. Zoodle likes anything, but sprinkles tickle his fancy too. The Engineer likes old-fashioned sour cream donuts (regular and chocolate.) And my taste changes from visit to visit--maple frosted donuts and eclairs are two of my favorites.
Of course, we don't eat donuts every morning. We explain to our kids that things like donuts are treats. They understand that treats are things we only get sometimes. I really think that an overall healthy diet can include some indulgences like donuts--in moderation!
We're lucky; we have a donut shop right outside our neighborhood. Sometimes we walk there; Chickie and I even ran there together recently. It's less than a mile and a half round trip. It may be kind of weird to be teaching my daughter about fitness by running to get donuts, but of course she doesn't seem to mind!
So usually we enjoy healthier breakfasts, like cereal. That's what we stock in our pantry so that the easiest choice for breakfast is a healthy choice. But occasionally we indulge in delectable donuts. It's a fun way to make the whole family happy!

Everyone in our house loves pancakes!
Our favorite go to breakfast Micky Mouse shaped pancakes...everyone once in a while for a special treat we'll throw in a few small chocolate chips.
Currently I am on a pear kick, but generally it is Nature Valley Yogurt granola bars.
My "in a crunch" breakfast is usually a granola bar since it isn't messy and doesn't require utensils or preparation.
Everyone in our house loves pancakes...especially Ian!
Everyone loves toast with butter and jam!
Our go to treat breakfast is donuts. Tatonut is my favorite, but they're only in 1 place in Mississippi. Other than that it's Krispy Kreme.
Our usual weekend breakfast is grits, eggs, hashbrowns, bacon and biscuits. Paige is a big breakfast eater.
A go to item in our family for breakfast is pancakes, or waffles...if we stocked up on donuts, I'm sure that would go over really good as well!!karasceviour at hotmail dot com
If I'm not eating a potato and cheese breakfast taco, I'm loving tiny Luna bars for a little sugar in the morning :-).
Our quick go to breakfast is toast with a bit of peanutbutter. I love it and my 2 year old loves it.
Most recently it's pumpkin choc chip muffins! :)
We must have cereal in stock at all times in our pantry! It's a must for an early morning rush, stick in a baggie for an on the go snack or a late night treat!
Ours would definitely be pop tarts. My kids love Cinnamon Sugar and strawberry. Its quick and easy and if we are running late, they can eat it while we are driving.
We are all about the Pop Tarts right now. Love the smores flavor!

I think your moderation lesson is very good. So many people go for either all or nothing. I don't think extremes are very healthy.
Bacon is the breakfast food which pleases everyone here.

Go to breakfast? Coffee*, cereal, bananas and milk, of course!
*Brewed if someone remembers to set up the delay feature on the coffee maker the night before. Otherwise, it's instant....
Bacon and eggs always please everyone, and they are a special treat because we don't have that everyday, of course!

On the weekend I make batches of mini frittatas in muffin tins. I use eggs, bacon or sausage, cheese, potatoes and chives - or anything else I have extra of in the fridge. I bake them up and then pack them up and freeze them. In the mornings the kids pop them in the toaster and they are like a gourmet breakfast each day. They love them, and really get their day off to a good start.
We love cereal, eggs and bagels and cream cheese

Granola is our family staple. Sometimes we just pour some soymilk over it and have granola cereal. Or we mix it up in our yogurt with some fruit and make a yogurt parfait. It is also delicious on ice cream (but not for breakfast though!).
cold cereal or oatmeal are favorites at our house.
Fruit in the cereal is a huge favorite breakfast here. Love it.
